Established in 1964, HJB (Harlan J. Berk Ltd. ) has long been revered as a leader in the numismatics community. However, in recent years, the company faced the challenge of diminishing brand presence and losing market share in an evolving digital era. In response, they sought a comprehensive digital overhaul to reconnect with their core audience and enhance their competitive edge, aiming to blend their rich heritage with modern consumer expectations for online engagement and usability.

Objectives
- Create a clean, modern look and feel that will enhance the company’s stature and can build lasting brand value.
- Develop a fully responsive, mobile-friendly platform that optimizes user experience across all devices.
- Enhance the online shopping experience to address various customer behaviors, integrating a sophisticated auction system alongside direct sales.
- Deliver impactful presentations of coins, coin collections, and antiquities to provide users with a clearer and more detailed view of each item, aiding their buying decisions.



Process
- Conducted in-depth interviews with leadership, numismatic experts, senior salespeople, and store managers to gather insights for the new architecture. Then overhauled the website architecture to improve navigation and user flow while introducing new, easily manageable features.
- Implemented a clean, modern aesthetic that reflects the brand’s high-end nature, focusing on functionality and ease of use.
- Developed a bespoke auction and e-commerce system that enhanced user interactions and minimized cognitive overload, ensuring a rich and fitting brand experience.
